▎Optical Isolator
The fiber optical isolator is a passive optical component in fiber optic systems to prevent the back-reflected signal light from damaging the light source or system. It utilizes the Faraday Effect of magneto-optic crystals to isolate reflected light, allowing light to travel in only one direction, while blocking light traveling in the opposite direction. . Based on fiber-coupled conditions, optical isolators are classified into 2 types: In-line Isolators and Free Space Isolators.
The optical isolator plays an important role in fiber optic systems. In industrial laser systems, optical isolators are primarily used to prevent adverse effects caused by back-reflected signal light, which may damage the laser or cause mode hopping, amplitude variations, or frequency shifts; In telecommunications networks and fiber optic amplifier systems, fiber optic isolators act as sentinels, safeguarding against signal disruptions. It can improve the stability and performance of the system, to ensure the quality of equipment.
