▎Fiber Pump Combiner
The fiber combiner is a kind of passive optical component in high-power fiber laser and amplifier systems. It helps to combine multiple pump laser sources into a single output fiber, delivering optical power to the gain medium. With fiber pump signal combiner, pump sources will enhance the system's power scalability and overall performance.
The process of fabricating a fiber pump combiner involves several key steps, which includes the fiber preparation, fusion splicing, tapering and packaging. During the fabrication, fusion splicing and tapering are two critical processes. For fusion splicing, the prepared fibers are fusion spliced together using a fusion splicer. This process creates a joint between the fibers, enabling efficient transfer of optical power. The alignment of the fibers is critical during fusion splicing to ensure optimal coupling efficiency; while the purpose of tapering is to create a gradual reduction in diameter, is typically achieved using a fiber tapering workstation, where the fibers are heated and stretched to create the desired taper profile. The taper design is crucial for achieving efficient power combining and minimizing losses. Overall, the challenge of designing the fiber combiner is optimize the power coupling efficiency, minimize the losses, ensure the reliability, and provide the consistent performance for high-power optical amplification applications. Pump Signal Combiners mainly fit for the amplification of the telecom and lasers system, which is widely used for the laser cutting, laser welding and laser drilling etc.
Optizone Technology can provide all types of fiber combiners, such as Nx1 Pump Combiner, (N+1)x1 Pump Signal Combiner, Nx1 Signal Power Combiner, as well the PM Type Combiner.
