▎Fiber Optical Coupler
A Fiber Optical Coupler is a passive optical component to couples, distributes, or combines optical signals between different optical fibers. It works based on the principle of light propagation through optical fibers. By utilizing the phenomenon of evanescent coupling or waveguide coupling, the Fiber Optical Coupler combines or splits optical signals. It typically consists of multiple input ports and one or more output ports. Optical couplers enable efficient transmission and distribution of optical signals, widely used in optical networks, optical fiber sensing, biomedical applications, scientific research, and industrial manufacturing.
According to the different types of fiber used, it can be divided into multi-mode optical coupler, single mode fiber optical coupler, and Polarization-Maintaining Coupler. The coupling ratio of a fiber optic coupler determines how much of the input optical power is coupled to each output port. Common coupling ratios include 50/50 (equal power split), 90/10, 70/30, etc.
Optizone is mainly focusing on the Polarization Maintaining Couplers, which feature a high extinction ratio and low excess loss with compact size.
